Deepika – Ranveer is about to get engaged in February 2016

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been in the ‘neither admitting nor denying’ phase forever now. Though the duo has never really spoken about their affair, they have given us enough moments to establish the truth. But looks like after all this while, they are finally ready to come out in the open. As reported by BollywoodLife, the couple is about to get engaged in February 2016. Reportedly, the duo was waiting for their parents to give their approval before making their relationship official. While Ranveer’s family happily accepted the girl, Deepika’s parents were not completely in support of the relationship. However, the latter have come around now and the two families are soon going to meet up. Post this, the most happening couple of B-Town will make the big announcement.

See What Kareena Kapoor Khan Wore As A Blouse With Her Sari!

I’m starting to think that Kareena Kapoor Khan can do no wrong. Just yesterday we couldn’t take our eyes off her on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Bride and today, we came across another set of photos and well, she looks gorgeous. She was at the HT Summit in Delhi yesterday and decided to wear a monochrome sari for the event. But, when you see what she wore as a blouse, you’ll fall instantly in love…

Yep, she paired her Dev R Nil sari with a vintage Christian Lacroix jacket and a statement necklace from Amrapali. You’ve seen Sonam Kapoor wear a shirt as a blouse, and a jacket over her blouse (think Anamika Khanna at Cannes). This is a rather new chapter in the sari tale and it’s definitely getting a two thumbs up from us. She was styled by Tanya Ghavri.

Kareena was also spotted at the airport earlier that day and stuck to her usual sweater and boots to travel in.

Priyanka Chopra, India's official UNICEF brand ambassador

Priyanka Chopra, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, today engaged with a group of adolescents in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and discussed important issues affecting their lives including nutrition and, particularly, ways to prevent anaemia. With this interaction, the Bollywood power player and international recording artist, takes her support to the issue of adolescent girls in India one step forward.“Anaemia is a key health concern for young girls and boys across the country but it is something that has a simple, workable solution. Blue, Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablets once a week and deworming tablets every six months. It really is that simple.

We need to create awareness about how these simple steps can have a huge and long-lasting impact in this generation of girls and boys and in the generations to come,” Priyanka Chopra, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, stated after reiterating her commitment to the cause of adolescents and showing her appreciation for being able to spend quality time with the group of adolescents in the City of Lakes, as Bhopal is known.   India has the largest number of young people aged 10-19 years in the world – 253 million out of 1.2 billion. This age group – referred as adolescents - comprise one-fourth of India’s population and are key drivers of India’s future economic growth. However, 56 per cent of girls and 30 per cent of boys in the age group of 15-19 years in India suffer from anaemia.

This means that 1 out of 2 young girls and 1 out of 3 young boys are anemic. In the state of Madhya Pradesh, 52% of girls and 33% of boys in the age group 15-19 have anaemia. “Research shows that after the first year of life, adolescence is the second highest growth spurt period. Adolescents, if fed and cared well, gain up to 50 per cent of their adult weight, more than 20% of their adult height, and 50% of their adult bone mass during this period. Improving the nutrition of adolescent girls today secures the nutrition of children tomorrow,” explained James Gitau, Deputy Representative, Operations, UNICEF India.

Anaemia is eroding the mental and physical capacity of young boys and girls, retarding their physical development, making them fatigued and breathless, and adversely affecting their memory and energy to perform daily tasks. “This is a critical issue for the Government of India, hence we are implementing a Weekly Iron folic acid supplementation (WIFS) and biannual deworming programme for school-going adolescent boys and girls and out-of school girls,” said Sushma Dureja, Deputy Commissioner Adolescent Health Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.  The WIFS programme has four components: (a) supervised weekly iron and folic acid supplementation comprising 100 mg of elemental iron and 500 μg of folic acid; (b) screening for moderate/severe anaemia and referral to nearest health facility, (c) deworming prophylaxis (400 mg albendazole) six months apart for the prevention of helminthic infestations; and (c) monthly nutrition and health education to encourage consumption of locally available iron-rich food and preventing helminthic infestations.

In Madhya Pradesh, the WIFS programme reaches out to 7,243,132 people, including in school adolescent boys and girls in classes 6th to 12th and out of school adolescent girls between 10-19 years. Iron deficient diets - year after year - perpetuate the inter-generational cycle of anaemia whereby anemic women give birth to children with low body iron stores, with devastating consequences to children’s health and development.

Priyanka Chopra recalls slapping fan over ‘misbehaviour’

Actress Priyanka Chopra has revealed she slapped a fan for allegedly misbehaving with her when was shooting for 2010 romance “Anjaana Anjaani”.
The 33-year-old star said she obliges fans by taking pictures with them but the actress is not comfortable with physical proximity.
“I slap a lot. I think once a fan misbehaved with me, I don’t know if he was a fan but, I came out of my trailer when I was shooting for ‘Anjana Anjani’. He just came and held my arms.
“I am very good with taking pictures and everything but I don’t like physically being touched. So he just held my hand and started asking for pictures. I got really scared so I grabbed his collar slapped him. Then I got so scared, I ran away,” she told reporters here.
Priyanka was speaking at the trailer launch of “Jai Gangaajal”, where she plays a Superintendent of Police (SP), Abha Mathur.
“Jai Gangaajal”, directed and co-produced by Prakash Jha, revolves around Abha, who takes on some powerful and influential men in her district.
The “Mary Kom” star said the most important aspect she kept in mind while playing the part was to keep it feminine yet tough.
“The most important thing was to still be feminine while playing a tough character like that of a cop. As a woman it is very important to celebrate womanhood and yet be in a position of authority. I enjoyed playing the part. It was very different for me,” the actress said.
According to Priyanka, the film, which also stars Jha, Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhat, Murli Sharma and Ninand Kamath, will touch relevant issues in the society.
“Nobody talks about the relevance of what the film speaks about. Farmer suicides, corruption within the society and politics within which we all live. We have given importance to these issues in the film to show what really goes around. It is a very relevant and important film (sic),” she added.

Box office collections: Deepika Padukone’s Bajirao Mastani is overtaking SRK’s Dilwale

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao Mastani, which had a slow start at the box office, has picked up pace over the weekend thanks to the strong and positive word of mouth. Bajirao Mastani’s collections have now registered a jump and is doing much better than Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol’s Dilwale.

Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, which have been going head strong at the box office, had witnessed a growth in their collections over the weekend, but Monday (December 22) collections have come as a surprise as SRK’s undefeated ‘Dilwale’ has been overpowered by the collections of ‘Bajirao Mastani’. (Read review of Bajirao Mastani )

The collections of ‘Dilwale’ declined by 50 per cent on Monday, whereas ‘Bajirao Mastani’s collections went down by mere 10 – 15 per cent. The figures of ‘Bajirao Mastani’s collections were ahead of Dilwale for the first time on Monday as the movies earned Rs. 10.25 cr and Rs 10.09 cr respectively. (Read review of Dilwale)

While, Dilwale had fans desperately waiting for the SRK-Kajol pairing on screen , ‘Bajirao Mastani’ seems to be going strong in the long run with the positive word of mouth.

Rohit Shetty’s film is also doing good overseas. The total collections of both the films still puts Bajirao Mastani in the second position.

The overall collections of ‘Dilwale’ in India are Rs. 75.18 cr, and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ has earned Rs. 57.02 cr. Rohit Shetty recently said that it was not ‘Bajirao Mastani’ that affected the film but the people calling a ban on the movie did.

Miss Universe: Miss Colombia mistakenly crowned as winner

The host of the Miss Universe has apologised after mistakenly naming the wrong woman as winner, leaving Miss Colombia empty-handed.
After the error, Ariadna Gutierrez was instead declared runner-up and surrendered her crown to Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
#MissUniverse2015 became Twitter's biggest trend of the night as social media users expressed their disbelief.
Ms Wurtzbach has since told reporters that she wishes Ms Gutierrez well.
"I'm very sorry, I did not take the crown away from her and I wish her well in whatever she wants to pursue after this pageant," she said.
Ms Gutierrez also addressed fans in a backstage video that has been shared on the pageant's official page.
She said: "Everything happens for a reason so I'm happy for all that I did."
At the end of the night in Las Vegas, Ms Gutierrez was named first runner-up followed by Olivia Jordan from the United States.

The host Steve Harvey responded, saying it was "his mistake" and he would take responsibility for not reading the winning card correctly.
He made another mistake when he misspelled both Colombia and the Philippines in an initial tweet. The tweet was later deleted.
"I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible," he tweeted in a second attempt. The message was re-tweeted more than 70,000 times.
"I don't want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants - they were all amazing."

'Miss Information'

Shock and disbelief erupted online following the incident.
"Talk about awkward," described one Twitter user who "couldn't help" but find the gaffe "hilarious".
Another user, Mark Critch from Canada, said: "And the winner is - Miss Information."

Facebook users also expressed their opinions on a post shared on the pageant's official page.
It was shared more than 62,000 times and received more than 17,000 comments from viewers across the world.
"That was poorly handled. Both of these gorgeous ladies deserve an apology because that was embarrassing for both of them. I literally felt both of their pain," read a top comment by Lemmy Cliff.
"That was the most annoying Miss Universe contest ever," said another commenter Andres Felipe Arbelaez. "The host was horrible and Miss Colombia should have won."
Pageant fans from the Philippines also began to express anger at the incident.
"Our Miss Philippines didn't get her shining moment," said a fan on Facebook. "It feels like she and our country were robbed of the winning moment, shame!"

While some Twitter users remained upset over the mistake, others began to tweet out messages of support.
"To err is human... to forgive is divine," said another user in reply to Mr Harvey's apology.

Dilwale movie review: Shah Rukh Khan is the only thing worth watching

I had hopes from ‘Diwale’, essentially because I had enjoyed, for the most part, the previous Shah Rukh Khan-Rohit Shetty combine. ‘Chennai Express’ had a tweaked Rohit Shetty sensibility (we’ll take you to south India, and have characters yak away in Tamil minus translation, and if you don’t understand, too bad) and SRK’s ability to send himself up, and delivered some amount of fresh fun.

There’s nothing new in ‘Dilwale’, which steals moments not just from Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal’ films, but also from Hollywood rom com ‘Love Actually’. Rohit Shetty is back in his favourite Goa, choosing to use sets which look like sets, done up in blindingly bright colours ( it’s almost as if the scenarist is scared to miss out a single hue in the palette). The film also takes a detour to Bulgaria (Why Bulgaria? Who cares?) for a most improbable back-story, involving the main lead pair, gangs, and guns and bullets, but gets back to its tiresome old haunts and habits soon enough.

This time around Shah Rukh shares space with Varun Dhawan who, in turn has a romantic track with Kriti Sanon, and a bumbling best friend track with Varun Sharma: SRK’s track with old flame Kajol, which is meant to be the film’s mainstay, keeps coming and going. And the other bit parts come and go, too, pretty much on a whim. It’s almost as if someone says, now let’s bung in a comic track, and out tumble Johnny Lever as a car thief, and Sanjay Misra as a pony-tailed receiver of stolen cars, and Boman Irani as a pink-jacketed mobster with a love of vintage cars.

Yes, cars do play a big part here, as they do in most Shetty films. And yes, a couple blow up most satisfactorily. But ‘Dilwale’, on the whole, is a plotless drag : the slaphappy antics you see on screen are a random jumble of light, camera, action, done in the broadest sense. In this rigmarole, SRK is the only thing worth watching when he switches on the wattage ( Kajol can shine, too, when she chooses to), but his twin parts—a ‘car modifier’ named Raj, and a gangster called Kali (yes, that’s right), are both familiar and bland. When old hands SRK and Kajol look into each other’s eyes, they can still make you feel it, except it doesn’t happen enough. Not by a long shot.

Wach: This is what fans have to say after watching Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale

Bajirao Mastani review: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh film is just a costume drama !!

From the first frame, you know you are in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Everything is scaled up, grander than grand, a-glitter. The Maratha court is in session. As all eyes turn to Peshwa Bajirao (Ranveer Singh), we are invited not just to see, but to behold a warrior in the full glory of manhood, striding off to conquer new places and hearts. It’s all razzle-dazzle, the way only Sanjay Leela Bhansali can turn it on.

And then we tear our gaze away from the lush sets and the gorgeously attired actors – Priyanka Chopra playing Kashibai, Bajirao’s wife, Deepika Padukone as the film’s eponymous Mastani ( lover, concubine, second wife?)and the equally beauteous Singh, and demand the very thing we come to the movies for: a story.

And we don’t find it, or chance upon it only sporadically, in between all the song-and-dances, and the set-pieces in the battle-fields and the palaces. Oh look, there’s a lovely chandelier, and gasp, what a beautiful glass palace ( `Mughal-e-Azam’ has a lot to answer for when it comes to our fascination with glass studded walls and ceilings), but excuse us, where’s the plot point?

All you enraged historians, breathe easy. With a disclaimer in place, the film doesn’t even pretend to be a faithful document of the events that took place in the early 1700s, when the Maratha empire in its ascendency. The facts, such as they are recorded, are not allowed to weigh heavy upon this pretty edifice. There is some chatter of the ‘debauched Dilli darbar’ and ambitions for ‘poora Hindustan’; a couple of kohled, bearded Mughal invaders show up with their armies, as well as scenes featuring a crafty ‘Dakkhani Nizam’. But these are stray mentions, and mere diversions : the real action in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is in the bedrooms and boudoirs and hallways, between Bajirao and brave ‘Bundalkhandi’ lass Mastani, with Kashibai valiantly fighting a rearguard action.

It is hard to imagine anyone else as Bajirao after Singh finishes chewing up the part ( and, to my untrained ears, cracking the Marathi accent), and owning the film – he swaggers, struts and ruts, an actor fully enjoying himself. Priyanka Chopra’s hurt wife has a couple of strong moments ( in fact, the only remotely felt sequence in the film belongs to Chopra and Tanvi Azmi, who plays Bajirao’s widowed, ambitious mother, as they ponder over the meaning of love and betrayal, and the man they are tied to). Deepika Padukone is lovely as usual, and creates sizzle with Ranveer Singh, but hasn’t melded with the part. Her Mastani is all dressed up, and acting away. And of course, we get an item number with the two lovelies—aiming for total ‘paisa-vasool’ two-for-the-price-of-one,—but ‘Pinga’ felt such a tired ‘Dola Re’ rip-off, only spectacle, not spectacular.

But too quickly you tire of all the showiness. The grandiosity wears off. You long for a genuinely moving, exciting story, featuring all these beautiful people, all actors able to pull off characters, but buried under their mounds of clothes, mouthing dialogue. ‘Bajirao Mastani’ had the potential to be a terrific historical. You want to be transported. What it ends up being is a costume drama : too many costumes, too much revved-up, empty drama, and too little plot.

Star cast of Bajirao Mastani: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Tanvi Azmi Director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Salman and I are too busy to do a film together: Shah Rukh Khan

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has ruled out the possibility of reuniting with Salman Khan on the silver screen again as he feels both the actors have a busy work schedule.
Shah Rukh Khan, who will be making his debut appearance on Salman-hosted ‘Bigg Boss 9’ this weekend to promote ‘Dilwale’, said they have no plans of working together in near future.

“There is no such plan of working in a film together. If you just look at our calendars, our spaces are full. Personally, my calendar is full. I am sure Salman is also busy. He is shooting for ‘Sultan’ right now and he told me about his another film,” Shah Rukh told PTI.
The actors, who are back to being friends after a period of enmity, first worked together in the Rakesh Roshan-directed revenge drama “Karan Arjun” followed by love story “Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam”. Salman also had a guest role in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. Asked whether it would be too expensive to cast them together in a film considering they are the highest paid actors of Bollywood, Shah Rukh quipped, “I am cheap and sweet. I don’t know about Salman’s salary.”

The actor, 50, is looking forward to the release of “Dilwale”, which will see him reuniting with friend Kajol after a gap of five years.

Kajol had recently said that SRK and her husband Ajay Devgn are not friends despite she being the common link between them but Shah Rukh disagreed with her.

“We don’t sit down and chat. Ajay is a quiet guy and so am I in real life. I may come out as more talkative in public. We are friends. If I have any issue, I can pick up the phone at 3am and call Ajay and tell him ‘Listen, I need Kajol to come and do this for me’ and he will drive her.

“We are such kind of friends. It happens because we have space. We are married and have kids and somewhere we have parallel life.”

Shah Rukh Khan said despite what people perceive about him and Ajay, the two actors are always there for each other in the time of crisis.

“When Kajol lost her dad, I was driving down to airport and Ajay called me and said ‘Listen, you are the first guy I am calling because you are a friend. Come here and be with Kajol. Bring Karan (Johar) along’. It was not because we were the only ones he could take support from… It is because we all are friends. We are very different people.

Shah Rukh Khan feels he and Kajol, who have been friends for the longest time and are counted among the most successful onscreen pairs in Bollywood, click together because they have immense respect for each other’s work.

“The first bond which gets created when you start working with co-stars is through respect. The second part is dignity for each other’s work and lifestyle. And third part is not being nosy. You have to give space and it is most important,” he said.

‘Dilwale’, directed by Rohit Shetty, also stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Johnny Lever among others in prominent roles. The film releases tomorrow.

Shah Rukh Khan was offered the film when he was shooting for a Yash Raj project and was bowled over by the film’s title.

“The film’s title was Rohit’s idea. It was always planned to be that because the whole film is about how you have to have a larger heart to forgive and move on in life. It comes very subtly and it’s a commercial film. He had Dilwale title always in the mind.”
